Well what a ripper day to pack a picnic and head for the beach, unless your living up in the chilly cold New England mountains..... suckers! The day was hovering around a nice barmy 31 so after chucking four kiddies in the commodore, we headed to our most loved sandy spot Geraldton Beach.
And what a marvellous ripper day the old bloke upstairs put on for us, and it was even better once you got your toes we. Here's Sarah, Jacko and Harrison getting dumped by the Geraldton shore line.
And this day was gonna be the first every running of the Sandgroper Cup Handicap Challenge, which i'm hoping will become an annual event in the family calender. And if it's a handicap race then hopefully the same old face won't keep going away with the prize, and here are the starters for todays race. First we have Jacko 'So you think' Paul at the back of the pack, which was the heavily weighted favourite to take away the prize. Second in the line up was Sarah 'Profound Beauty' Paul sitting comfortably as second favourite and ready for the race, as she had a light breaky so she could keep her weight down. Coming in at number three and Laying in Barrier No2 was Harrison 'Shocking I can't believe i'm in this family' Paul, who was nicely placed close to the prize but occasionally had the tendency to go off the rails near the end of races. And finally we come to the roughy of the race The big Osk 'Shoot Out' Paul, who loved the big occasions but sometimes came in a little over weight after a hearty breaky. So for the first running of 'The Paul Challenge' the bookies had a market like this... Jacko 3/1 Sarah 5's Harrison 7to1 and The big Osk at 26/1. And so we come to the first race...
Then we come to the second elimination Final....
And then the Final race
And what a graces winner we have....
So after the running of the Great race the kiddies get together for a bit of old fashion sandgroping.... well they are Sandgropers ain't they!
So after a bit of sandgroping the shark rissole's were back in the water and getting dumped by the waves, strewth the water up this way looks real beaut hay as blue as it get's. It's a pity I can't say the same for the Moore River which runs into the sea here, but beggars can't be choosers.
The big Osk.
So what do you do after a ripper surf beach race and some time in the waves, well you hit the local fish n' chip shop for a scrutinise sea tucker which is a ripper way to finish a beaut day out.
On the way out we drove to the top of the lookout at the beach to see what we had been up to all day, and what a ripper crows nest it was.
Here's Harrison and Sarah showing you the view from the lookout, just have a captain cook at that mate! You can see what I mentioned about the river looking a little bondi tram brown, but the ocean couldn't be a better blue hay.
So we come to the end of yet another ripper day on the other side of the earth, and as the sun set's over the Indian ocean we say goodbye and see ya latter....
P.s just a little left over bit of footage that I thought you might like to have a little squizz at, it was during one of the warm-up heats before the BIG RACE that stops a family. I like to call it 'The sore loser' ha,ha,ha strewth cop a gander at this...
